AgustaWestland Bribed our Journalists

Journalists

The Agusta Westland fiasco has revealed what all of us have known for a long time. That indeed, prominent journalists have been in the payroll of vested interests for quite some time and national interests have been compromised for the sake of monetary benefits. The full extent of the manipulation of the public mind by thieving propaganda will come to light when the actual names of the journalists involved are revealed.

The ghastly implications of such a travesty can have consequences more far reaching than any of could possibly imagine. One wonders if it were so easy for AgustaWestland to bribe our journalists, could it be possible that some of our journalists have sold themselves out to forces which seek to destroy our nation? Could it be that AgustaWestland is only one of many organizations which are using Mass Media to befuddle the minds of the public to further their own self-serving agenda? Could it be that the ISI and other Secret Service organizations have moles in the Media to assist them manipulate the result of Elections in our country? These are troubling questions the answers to which even might be even more troubling.

The AgustaWestland revelations must be seen in light of the vicious ‘Minorities under Attack’ and the ‘Church Attacks’ propaganda run by some Media outlets last year. One wonders if it was the result of bribery that some News outlets ignored all facts altogether and ran a vicious tirade against the Narendra Modi led NDA government.

The Intolerance Debate was also a charade run by certain media outlets to defame the Hindu Right-wing government at the Center. In light of recent revelations, one wonders if difference in Political Opinion was enough to motivate Journalists into pursuing a farcical agenda or was additional incentive in the form of favors or monetary benefits the primary reason?

The most concerning event of them all is perhaps the enthusiastic manner in which certain journalists and certain media outlets went about defending Ishrat Jahaan and transformed her into some sort of Martyr, with considerable assistance in this matter from Politicians as well one should concede. Is Political Alignment enough to cause Journalists to indulge in such perjury of Journalistic ethics? Or were other benefits provided?

The dangerous Nexus that has emerged between Politicians and the Mainstream Media has greatly diminished its credibility. The greatest indictment of the Mainstream Media has been the growing distrust it has generated in the minds of the people. There was a time when Journalism was regarded as a noble profession and journalists were respected by people irrelevant of their political inclination. But it is safe to say, the Glory Days of Journalism are long since gone.

One must take a pause to thank Arnab Goswami at this point of time. Yes, we might not enjoy his brand of Journalism. Yes, we might not be fond of the way he harasses his guests in the Newshour Debates. Yes, we might regard him as arrogant and a narcissist. But one cannot take away his contribution in restoring some sanity in the wild world of Journalism. His relentless pursuit of the Ishrat Jahaan case, his demolition of the Intolerance Charade, his numerous expose of the myriad scams, they have gone a long way in exposing even his counterparts. And solely for that reason, he deserves our respect.

Edward Bernays, the Father of Public Relations, once remarked, “The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.” Until now, the media was a great tool for this invisible government to rule the masses with dubious propaganda. But with the rise of Social Media which has laid the foundation for the Free Market of opinions, the Cathedral is finally about to crumble.

One can only harbour guesses as to who exactly those 20 journalists are who have sold themselves out to vested interests who seek to unleash chaos upon our great nation. But we already have a list of candidates in our minds, don’t we? I think we can reasonably conclude that contrary to popular opinion, Sagarika Ghose and Rana Ayyub are definitely not one of the Terrible Twenty. I highly doubt Supersmart Villains would employ dumb ugly irritating women for such critical jobs. Frankly, it’s highly debatable if even Supervillains could tolerate their moronery.

Jokes apart, there are certain obvious names that come to our minds when we think of journalists who are most likely to put India’s national interests at jeopardy. If their names indeed feature in the Terrible Twenty, then their whole career should be viewed in light of the revelation. Regardless of who the journalists are, they must be thoroughly investigated to find out if they have compromised our national interests with other organizations as well.
