Kanhaiya bail- Why Communists shouldn’t celebrate?

Kanhaiya

Kanhaiya Kumar’s bail is in no way an endorsement of the abominable activities inside the JNU. It doesn’t even absolve Kanhaiya of not being the part of anti-national activities in the campus. Read the High Court judgement and see for yourself how strongly the judiciary felt about the condemnable incidents at JNU before declaring that the left and their supporters stand vindicated for supporting anti-national sloganeering and celebration of convicted terrorists as martyrs.

Kanhaiya may or may not be directly responsible for the anti-national slogans. Let the courts decide on that. What happened in JNU was plain wrong and people behind it should be brought to book. Further, there is no point in saluting the soldiers after being, at the very least complicit in the pro-terrorist and anti-India sloganeering inside the campus of which is he is the president. If a communal bigot speaks up about the value of tolerance weeks after giving a hate speech, it doesn’t reflect on what he is or make him a Gandhi. What happened inside the JNU or what has been happening there for years like celebrating the massacre of soldiers by Naxals/ eulogizing convicted terrorists as martyrs/ calling for the disintegration of India will not be condoned as freedom of expression by any Indian worth his salt.

The issue is not if Kanhaiya is directly involved or not. Good for him if he is innocent.

The pertinent issue is raising blatant anti-national slogans calling for the disintegration of India, eulogizing terrorists as martyrs, celebrating the massacre of paramilitary soldiers by Naxals, etc. The list goes on. Ideally, World should be a completely free place of ideas and a nation should be strong and confident enough to allow even the ideas calling out for its own destruction. But, this is not an ideal world. India faces serious challenges to its integrity and exuberance ranging from the ultra-left wing Naxalism to Pakistani sponsored terrorism. We cannot allow open support to either of these causes in the name of freedom of expression. Even, the most powerful and secure nation in the world, USA won’t brook this type of behavior in the name of the right to dissent.

Further, examine the stand of Communist ideology on free speech and liberty and this false facade of progressive liberalism will come crashing down like ninepins. No communist regime anywhere in the globe will allow even one in a millionth fraction of the freedom and liberty we enjoy in India. So, the Communists must first fix their broken ideology before pointing fingers at others. Repression is at the core of a communist state. Let alone dissenting against the nation, the common man will not be able to point fingers at even a lowly party member. At the very least, throw the likes of Stalin, Mao, Castro and Che in the Arabian Sea before waxing eloquent about the right to dissent, liberty etc.

99% of all communist regimes were brutal dictatorships who brutally murdered anyone who dared to dissent. Freedom of expression and liberty were anathema to all the Communist heroes. from Stalin to Castro…They killed by millions. Even the communist party of Soviet Union had to later disown Stalin even while running a Communist dictatorial government themselves. Even they couldn’t stand his atrocities. Even heads of states of communist bloc countries were tortured and executed when they tried to mould communism to a more human way rather than Stalin’s dogmatic ideology. His own PB members were tortured/killed/made to rot in concentration camps.

I don’t even want to mention the atrocities committed in South America or still being done in China and North Korea by the communists relishing in their glorious revolution. Yet, here they stand accusing one of the most liberal systems in the world as fascist despotism, demanding the right to call for the disintegration of their own country and to celebrate terrorists who killed fellow Indians as martyrs, all the while swearing by an ideology which has been the most repressive modern world has seen. If you doubt it, ask any Russian or any Eastern European who were unfortunate enough to face the deprivations of Communist regimes. And, do a favor to the Chinese/North Koreans by not asking. Even Gods won’t forgive you if you do ask them.
