Umar Khalid was sermonizing about the plight of Forest Dwellers, Does he even have an idea about them?
As was the tag – ‘foreign returned’ used to attract many a prospective brides, the new tag ‘jail returned’ is in vogue attracting all those who were left out when the right have chosen to exercise their right. So, shall we gather from the ranting of Khalid & Co.?
Remember how a young child describes the experiences after returning home, from a school picnic. It is almost the same enthusiasm that I could sense in the talk of Khalid and others, who are out on bail.
Suddenly, no one is talking about ‘breaking India’ or “India’s barbadi”. And their leader who proved he was learning the game of politics declared ‘Kashmir is an integral part of India’. Thanks bro.
Earlier I used to wonder at the age of twenty seven or twenty eight, what these fellows doing in the universities, instead of earning to support their families. No more. I understood, the evolution of their brains and so the thought process – you know the lingo – Analytical Reasoning, Aptitude and of course, Attitude was stagnated a decade back. While in teens, the dogma of socialism has its appeal and charms the young minds. I too was fascinated by the exotic ideas. Then, like a regular man who earns his food, I had to work and face the reality of the so called socialism in practice. Then I realised, why in all old Indian folk tales the prince was sent on a tour before assuming the charge of his subjects. Practical experience provides the necessary shock to the person who observes not only with eyes but with an open mind. And the shock one experiences, while observing the socialist principles in practice, one moves away from the very once charming principles and thoughts.
When the bailed out boys were asking about the lives of Adivasis, I cringed. For, what they knew of the hardships of the forest dwellers.
Now, I used the word forest dwellers – not the ‘Adivasi’ nor ‘Tribal’. The word Adivasi denotes people who belong to generations of people who started to live in that particular place. Tribal – another word that is wrongly used by all people. Who doesn’t belong to a tribe? I, the writer and you the reader belong to one or the other tribe, if we took the definition literally. Is not being racist when we use the word tribal to denote those who are now living in forests? I wonder what these BOBs(Bailed Out Boys) think of the people who live in the forests. Rather the Government should not be spending the money on those persons who are living in forests, instead of feeding these leeches who literally follow the sayng – ‘Learning is a continuous process”?
Now, coming to the forest dwellers, they are in poor condition. Many small and remote villages have seen the light of progress, but it is yet to reach the forest dwellers. Who are the culprits? These socialists. How the erstwhile Nehruvian PSUs have failed the locals can be a chapter in itself. Forest dwellers still live at the mercy of nature. Scouting for food, in the forever shrinking jungle area, it is difficult for them to find drinking water for most of the year. No proper approach to their settlements, no schools and no hospitals. It is not that our villages have all these facilities, but the forest settlements are the most deprived areas. In the name of fighting for the forest dwellers against the oppression of outsiders, all these bloody Naxalites have done was unleashing blood soaked terror. Fearing police action, they continuously blocked road paving and many schools were blown. Was it known to Kanhaiya and Khalid. The initial batch of naxalites were highly educated and motivated to give up their lives to work for the benefit of the highly exploited people of India. However, the violence they unleashed in the name of “People’s War” had destructed the lives of the supposed beneficiaries, forever.
All tradesmen exploit the people living in jungles. Of course, we need not talk about the Sarkari babus, who exploit even those who live in Metros. Whose legacy was this? Who created such an establishment that sucked the blood out of the very people whom it is supposed to protect? The same socialists, communists, Marxists, Maoists and so many others. What is the condition of forest dwellers in Bengal, a state ruled by Communists for three long years? Have they benefited even a bit from the so called ‘People’ rule? Nay. In fact, in the long run, Naxalism gave way to full-fledged exploitation of cadres, people by the selfish leaders. The punishment for voicing an alternate opinion – Death! And they preach about ‘freedom of speech’. Sucks!
Many a women in their cadres were exploited. Funnily all cadres are ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’ and there happens the worst kind of sexual exploitation in the name of fighting for people. Even Daku Mangal Singh was far better than these guys. All the five years of Naxalism could develop was converting the some of the poor into dacoits, while the remaining suffered silently in their hands. Creating a class from the same group of people that exploits the remaining. Too much for a class war!
Even Musharraf accepts the hand of Pakistan in cross-border terrorism and Kargil war. But, one will never find any of these so called leftists renouncing the acts of their comrades. All they do was to ooze at the sexual and violent acts committed by their brethren. Now, we have another set of amateur guys giving lectures on the exploitation of adivasis. And this fellow is proud because even Arundhati Roy was charged for sedition.
In the bed time stories, as a kid I heard of a perverted mind. If after reading Ramayana, one feels to be Ravana, for he enjoys the power, kingdom, many wives and everything, while Rama was living in the forests separated from his wife that shows perversion. Yes, there may be many a people who idolize on the villains because they live better while the hero struggles. I thought such orientation was restricted to the recruits of ISIS only. I was wrong. There are many in JNU.
I wondered, why Kanhaiya failed to mention Arvind Kejriwal as inspiration. For he did so many U-turns, and only Kanhaiya & Co., can break his record of U-turns. Few days in jail, they realized Kashmir is an integral part of India. I wonder, what another six months term could do to them. Perhaps, Kanhaiya will say even POK is integral part of India. Another feature of Arvind was questioning, but not answering. It is OK if K&K questions Modi or somebody. But, when will they own up responsibility to their slogans – ‘Bharat ki Barbadi’? Even if it was shouted by OUTSIDERS, it was this K-Company that brought these outsiders into JNU. But, like Arvind, they don’t answer to any of their acts. They just pose questions to others.
One silver lining in the entire episode is that there is someone in the government, working behind the scenes, planning and execution steps – one by one. Despite the initial self-goal by Rajnath Singh, when he claimed the program was controlled from across border, later acts were thoroughly thought and simple legal actions. The finesse exhibited in sending these guys to jail under sedation law – only to allow them to get bail displays that there is one brain in the government that thinks like PVNR. Many lives were rotting in jail under the sedation law – exploited by the Congress very well. But, allowing these students to come out on bail and forcing them to do U-turns, simply made these fellows look less credible – simply put – no conviction at all. The government in power shall always cultivate such brains and use them more often than not.
