Pathankot Attack: Modi Ji! What happened to “Talk and Terror cannot go together”?

Pathankot Attack

As the Pathankot Attack continues well into its second day, 7 security men have been martyred so far. The Pathankot attack which comes only days after Narendra Modi paid Nawaz Sharif a surprise visit has proved for the millionth time that if you want to pursue Peace with Pakistan, you have to talk on their own terms. Proper retaliation could go a long way in convincing Pakistan to pursue Peace through Dialogue after all.

The details of the Pathankot Attack which is emerging slowly as we speak is a massive blow to the credentials of the Modi government. Recent events have made a mockery of what was supposed to be Modi’s Policy on Pakistan when he came to power, “Talks and Terror cannot go together.”

One also needs to question the people who are running the official PMO Twitter handle. At a time when Security Forces are carrying out a major Combing Operation, it is ridiculous that the Prime Minister is live-tweeting on Yoga. It is understandable that the Prime Minister cannot cancel a commitment but the least that could be done is not tweet about it in such sensitive occasions.

Emotions are running high and Political Opponents are on the prowl for opportunities to attack the Government on whatever it can get its hands on. And they cannot be blamed for it because it’s the exact same thing which the BJP did when it was in opposition. And the Prime Minister who was already on very shaky grounds has made it exceptionally easy for the opponents to dent a major blow by live tweeting about Yoga while providing the country no assurances when we have our Forces fighting Terrorists.

Needless to say, this is how the Perception Battle is lost. The Narendra Modi government has obviously done a great job at tackling the infiltrators in our midst and has cracked down heavily on ISI operatives who had even managed to infiltrate our security forces, arresting quite a few of them in the last couple of months itself. But all that people will remember is how the Prime Minister was tweeting on Yoga when a Terrorist Operation was on at Pathankot.

On top of that we have imbeciles who are trending #SackAjitDoval for a while now. Of course, let us ignore the fact that Ajit Doval has done more for the security of our motherland than most of us could in a thousand lifetimes. But when emotions run wild, sensibility is the first thing that’s thrown out of the window.

And then we have Barkha Dutt who is using the Pathankot Attack to promote her book ‘This Unquiet Land.’ One would have thought it was difficult to stoop down lower than Rajdeep Sardesai when it comes to promoting one’s book but Barkha Dutt has proved it again that one should never underestimate her power. Barkha Dutt of course was very disappointed with the fact that the media houses weren’t given much details about the ongoing operations and took to Twitter to vent out her frustrations. Citing NDTV’s previous record, we can only be grateful that we have a strong Indian Government at the Center that is not allowing the Media to broadcast messages to the enemy.

I am not a huge fan of Lalu Prasad Yadav, obviously because I have still some brains left, but the man made more sense than half the media and all the Opposition when he said instead of Politicizing the issue we should get behind our Army at this moment of turmoil. It does say a lot about our political system when the person talking the most sense is a convicted felon.

All the evidence so far points to the fact that the Pathankot attack was meant to be much bigger than it has eventually turned out to be. We can only thank our Security Forces for the sacrifices they make at every point of their career and offer our simplest gratitude to every single one of them who fight to protect our Motherland, Bharat from those that seek to annihilate us.
