Sundays are my Digital Detox Days. A tech savvy person like me needs a day off to connect with things off internet and catch up on some sleep. And this morning I woke up to a Facebook timeline painted with tricolor themed pictures, all of which had tiny white dots. Looked very cool. I started to wonder what was the fuss all about. And then I stumbled upon Zuckerberg’s profile and then Modi’s and then Ravi Shankar Prasad’s and VK Singh’s and almost everyone on Facebook. I understood that the act was to SupportDigitalIndia SupportDigitalIndia.
As I scrolled Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook page, I realized all his latest updates were about Modi. My instant reaction was wow this tech savvy PM of ours has made it so big that CEOs of world’s biggest brands are going out of their ways to woo him. Of late all I have been hearing about is Modi’s abroad tours and how he is making sure that India remains in the news for all good reasons, a complete contrast to the Manmohan regime when the foreign press only talked about scams and corruption. I also watched Modi’s town hall video where Mark and Modi shared little family talks as well, and Modi failed to hold his tears while talking about his mother’s sacrifices. It was all so touching. Probably Modi was overwhelmed with the reception he got at the world’s biggest social media platform’s headquarters. It is human to reminisce the adversities one has overcome to reach to this level. Behind every success story there are many stories of sacrifices. As Modi narrated the many sacrifices of his mother, I got a little emotional and I am sure many of you had tear films on your eyes as well. But the next moment I burst out laughing because, while Mark Zuckerberg asked Modi about his mother, the Adarsh liberals and the Pseudo Feminists here in India only question about his wife? Through comments on the video, so many people across the world expressed their feedback about the thoughtful speech that Modi delivered about the role of mother in a person’s life. Surprisingly there was a lot of love and respect from Pakistan too and they weren’t all on the face phoney. BUT of course and I am quite sure that there would be celebrities and journalists and celebrity journalists in India who’d call it a mere publicity stunt. SupportDigitalIndia
With such confidence and enthusiasm in his speeches, Narendra Modi has become the true representative of the India-ness that all of us embody. Don’t get me wrong but the pride of an already proud Indian has quadrupled with the recent developments. Modi is the true brand ambassador of influence that this nation of 1.2 billion has in the world. I am sure many of you share the same feeling. Somebody told me that RaGa was planning an Anti Modi demonstration in the States. Also, there were a number of Khalistan supporters ready to stall his programs. But you know what that old man told joker in the movie “The Dark Knight” – We are not intimidated by thugs. I am sure that’s what Modi’s supporters in US must be saying to them.
I am sorry if this piece makes no sense. I am not a political commentator, I am just an ordinary woman from a country led by an extraordinary man. SupportDigitalIndia
