The policeman who assaulted a nice lady in Central Delhi has been dismissed from his duty and a criminal case has been filed against him. Thanks to the man who shot the video and thanks to the thousands who shared it. This will send a strong message to the police fraternity that they cannot manhandle the common public.
BUT
The video shows a policeman mad with fury, throwing a huge brick at the nice lady whom he stopped for ‘minor’ traffic rule violation. The video also shows the nice lady throwing brick at the policeman. The point to note here is that the nice lady throws the stone first.
A couple of important points:
The cop has been dismissed because the nice lady “alleged” that he was demanding for Rs. 200 bribe. The video DOESN’T prove that.
The woman said that she asked for a challan and refused to pay bribe. The video DOESN’T prove that.
The woman attacks an officer on duty. The video DOES show that.
The officer was guilty for sure but the nice lady wasn’t all that nice after all. If the cop has been booked, the lady mustn’t be spared too. But, looks like we have decided the victim and perpetrator already.
And one more thing. JUMPING TRAFFIC LIGHT IS NOT A MINOR CRIME.
